Abstract: Your doctor or nurse practitioner has ordered a medical imaging test that requires you to have an injection of contrast media.; While it is possible that tiny amounts of contrast media can enter breast milk, we want you to know that it is safe to continue to breast feed your baby.; This document explains how much contrast your baby might receive in breast milk, how long each type of contrast takes to leave the body, and why it is a good idea to breastfeed as soon as you can after the imaging.
