Abstract
Even though Gilly the Giraffe has many wonderful things in her life, she sometimes lacks confidence. Why does she have to stand out so much with her long neck, her long black tongue and her mosaic patches? Why do some of the other animals point and laugh at her? Can it be possible to be different and to be cool?
This activity book developed by expert child psychologist Dr. Karen Treisman combines a colourfully illustrated therapeutic story about Gilly the Giraffe to help start conversations, which is followed by a wealth of creative activities for children to explore and build upon some of the ideas raised in the story, and beyond!

Abstract
"'Let your illness be your spiritual teacher!' Make a statement like that to someone who's struggled for years with, say, rheumatoid arthritis, and be prepared for an eye roll (at best). To Peter Fernando's credit, he makes that statement, and no such impulse arises. We believe him because he's been there himself and because he backs up the statements with his own real experiences and with real wisdom from the Buddhist teachings. Fernando starts by defusing the pernicious belief that anyone is somehow responsible for their illness: you're not "wrong" for being sick. Then, having gotten past self-blame, one can begin to learn self-kindness. From there, one moves to mindfulness practices and cultivating body awareness?even if body awareness is distasteful when the body isn't behaving the way you like. Further topics include getting intimate with dark emotions (fear, despair, the scary future, frustration, grief, etc.), learning equanimity (rejoicing in the good fortune of those who don't share your suffering), cultivating healthy relationships in the midst of everything, and practical advice for living with pain. Each chapter comes with one or more practices or guided meditations for putting the teachings into practice"--from publisher.

Abstract
Occupational therapy uses simple, fun activities to help kids learn the skills they need for daily life, from eating meals and writing the alphabet to socializing with friends and family. Occupational Therapy Activities for Kids is designed to help children at all developmental ability levels strengthen those skills by playing their way through 100 exciting exercises that are easy to do at home anytime.
-
This family-friendly guide offers concise information on how occupational therapy works and shows you how to apply it in a way that benefits your child. The games are even divided into chapters based on different types of occupational therapy skills―sensory processing, motor, social-emotional, and cognitive and visual processing―so you can focus on the ones that are most important for your child.
Customizable for your kid―Every chapter starts with the simplest activities and increases in complexity, with tips on how to make each activity easier or harder.
No experience necessary―From Balloon Volleyball to Find the Treasure, most exercises can be done with things you probably already have in your home. No prior knowledge or special tools required.
All kids, all ages―These occupational therapy activities are built for kids 1 to 6 years old with various developmental challenges, but they can help all kids improve their physical, social-emotional, and cognitive abilities.

Abstract
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable, or to dare greatly. Whether the arena is a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation, we must find the courage to walk into vulnerability and engage with our whole hearts. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection. Based on twelve years of research.

Abstract
The first parenting book to bring the science and psychology of children's behavior together to build brain/body awareness for self-regulation and success Self-Reg is a ground-breaking book that presents an entirely new understanding of your child's emotions and behavior that serves as a practical guide for parents to help their kids engage calmly and successfully in learning and life. Rooted in decades of clinical practice and research by leading child psychologist Dr. Stuart Shanker, Self-Reg realigns the power of the parent-child relationship for positive change. Self-regulation is the nervous system's way of responding to stress. We are seeing a generation of children and teens with excessively high levels of stress and, as a result, an explosion of emotional, social, learning, behavior, and physical health problems. But few parents recognize the "hidden stressors" that their children are struggling with: physiological as well as social and emotional. An entrenched view of child rearing is seeing our children as lacking self-control or will-power, but the real basis for these problems lies in excessive stress. Self-regulation can dramatically improve a child's mood, attention, and concentration. It can help children to feel empathy and to develop the sorts of virtues that every parent knows are vital for their child's long-term well-being. Self-regulation brings about profound and lasting transformation that continues to mature throughout life. Shanker translates decades of his findings from working with children into practical, prescriptive advice for parents, giving them concrete ways to develop their self-regulation skills and teach their children how to do the same for optimal learning, social, and emotional growth as well as for overall well-being.
