Abstract
This book takes an integrated approach to pain rehabilitation and combines pain science, rehabilitation and yoga with evidence-based approaches from respected contributors. They demonstrate how to integrate the concepts, philosophies and practices of yoga and pain science in working with people in pain. The book expounds on the movement to a more patient-valued, partnership-based biopsychosocial-spiritual model of healthcare in which the patient is an active and empowered participant, as opposed to a model in which the healthcare provider is 'fixing' the passive patient.

Abstract
"Parents of a child in pain want nothing more than to offer immediate comfort. But a child with chronic or recurring pain requires much more. His or her parents need skills and strategies not only for increasing comfort but also for helping their child deal with an array of pain-related challenges, such as school disruption, sleep disturbance, and difficulties with peers. This essential guide, written by an expert in pediatric pain management, is the practical, accessible, and comprehensive resource that families and caregivers have been awaiting. It offers in-the-moment strategies for managing a child?s pain along with expert advice for fostering long-term comfort.
"Dr. Rachael Coakley, a clinical pediatric psychologist who works exclusively with families of children with chronic or recurrent pain, provides a set of research-proven strategies?some surprisingly counter-intuitive?to achieve positive results quickly and lastingly. Whether the pain is disease-related, the result of an injury or surgery, or caused by another condition or syndrome, this book offers what every parent of a child in pain most needs: effective methods for reversing the cycle of chronic pain"--from the Publisher.

It's another busy day at the hospital! Meet doctors and nurses, ride in an ambulance, and discover the magic of medicine in this nonfiction story for kids.
This book is perfect for any child who is nervous about a trip to the hospital. Dr. Christle Nwora takes readers behind the scenes to meet the incredible people who keep you healthy, from surgeons to mental health therapists. Set over the course of one day, you?ll follow different patients through their trip to the hospital, including:
- A couple having a new baby
- A boy getting a cast for his broken arm
- A woman on her way to have an operation
As you turn the pages of this book, illustrated by Ginnie Hsu, marvel at the way hospital staff work together―see who prepares the food in the cafeteria, what goes on in the laundry room, and what doctors chat about during their coffee break.

Abstract
Children and adolescents with chronic illnesses, particularly those accompanied by debilitating, painful, and/or fatiguing symptoms, face challenges that may prove disruptive to physical, psychological, and social development. Based on extensive research and clinical expertise, Children's Health and Illness Recovery Program (CHIRP) is an effective treatment program designed to build and maintain independence in young people with chronic illness.
This Teen and Family Workbook provides proven treatment activities designed to combat the additional stress faced by youth coping with long-term health problems. These tasks target key areas for improvement in physical functioning, school functioning, and personal functioning and support the creation of new tools for managing the impact of illness, such as stress management, coping and relaxation techniques, and communication skills. In-session and take-home activities outlined in this workbook are meant to accompany the companion CHIRP Clinician Guide. With the use of this workbook and supported by a network of clinicians, healthcare specialists, and school professionals, adolescents and their families can return to a better quality of life.

Abstract
"The vast majority of physical injuries incurred by active people begin with muscular injuries that are not addressed by the conventional medical approach to orthopedic care. Injuries of this type are generally too minor to warrant splinting, casting, or medication and often do not prevent participation in physical activities. They do, however, produce noticeable discomfort and, over time, frequently lead to more severe injuries.
"In Trigger Point Self-Care Manual Donna Finando presents methods for the healing and prevention of musculature injuries. She identifies the causes of and remedies for areas of muscular tightness and restriction and details many self-care techniques, including precise self-massage, stretching, and the use of wet heat and/or ice. In the fully illustrated reference section, organized by body part, she identifies the pain associated with trigger points in each muscle of the body and provides instructions for palpating, treating, and stretching the muscle in order to release it"--from the back cover.

Abstract
Co-developed by the Society of Pediatric Nurses and the American Nurses Association, this practice-focused handbook is built around family-centered care. This FCC model and standard of pediatric healthcare practice focuses on the child within the context of the child's family as a unit, not on the ill or injured child alone. As such, it applies to the care of children and their families across settings and across specialties of neonatal, child, and adolescent healthcare. Evidence-based in its comprehensive literature search and grounded in an expansive concept of family, this guide is a primary reference for any administrator, clinician, educator, or researcher involved in pediatric health care. It is organized by the eight elements of family-centered care as originally described by the Association for the Care of Children's Health (see below) and accompanying practice recommendations. This guide was developed with the assistance of panel of pediatric experts convened by the Society of Pediatric Nurses and input from the Institute for Family-Centered Care. It complements Scope and Standards of Pediatric Nursing Practice, also co-published by SPN and ANA.

It emphasises the importance of diet and offers advice on how to make using the toilet less frightening, the benefits of keeping a stool diary chart, and what laxatives and medications to use in different circumstances. It provides tips on how to tackle inappropriate lavatorial behaviour sensitively and addresses the issues particular to children with special needs.
This book is a reassuring, informative and non-patronising guide to help children overcome toileting problems. It is useful for parents and all professionals who work with children.

Abstract
This book provides the reader with a theoretical and practical understanding of two health care delivery models: the patient/child centred care and family-centred care. Both are fundamental to caring for children in healthcare organizations. The authors address their application in a variety of paediatric healthcare contexts, as well as the ethical and legal issues they raise. Each model is increasingly pursued as a vehicle for guiding the delivery of health care in the best interests of children. Such models for health care delivery shape health care policies, programs, facility design, resource allocation decisions and day-to-day interactions among patients, families, physicians and other health care professionals. To maximize the health and ethical benefits these models offer, there must be shared understanding of what the models entail, as well as the ethical and legal synergies and tensions they can create. This book is a valuable resource for paediatricians, nurses, trainees, graduate students, practitioners of ethics and health policy.

Abstract
At some point, children become curious about babies. This usually happens when a new baby arrives in a family (or is about to arrive and all the grown-ups are talking about it). But it can happen at other times, too.
Children want to know where babies come from in general. They also want to know, specifically, where they came from. These aren't the same question, and they don't have the same answer.
One answer articulates the unique story of their conception and birth, while the other offers the basics of how all human beings are born. Both stories are valuable. The first connects a child to their personal life history as well as their familial, cultural, and ethnic background. The second connects all children to each other; reminding us that while differences are important, and shouldn't be erased, shared humanity is a pretty cool thing, too.
This book helps adults tell children that second story. It doesn't include information about sexual intercourse, donor insemination, fertility treatments, surrogacy, or adoption. But it creates a space for you to share as few or as many of those details as you like.
Few adults are automatically comfortable talking about these things with children. For this reason, I've developed a simple reader's guide for parents. You can download it for free at www.what-makes-a-baby.com.

Abstract
The book illustrates how parents who are participating in family-based treatment (FBT) for their child's eating disorder (ED) may enhance their chances of achieving optimal outcomes for their child by more successfully navigating the challenges that often impede progress in treatment and recovery. The stance of the book is transdiagnostic, so that the information provided spans all ED diagnoses including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, and atypical ED presentations as well as conditions that fall outside current diagnostic criteria. This book helps parents to identify how they can make the most of FBT therapy no matter which ED symptoms their child experiences. Case vignettes across the diagnostic and clinical spectrum are used throughout the book, not only to illustrate examples of some specific challenges families face, but to help parents normalize the emotions they may feel around their experience of trying to help their child and around their experience of participating in the FBT intervention itself.

Abstract
The children of people with chronic illness and pain suffer quietly. "Why Does Mommy Hurt?" is a joyful, yet honest, portrayal of family life burdened with chronic illness. This is a delightful story told by a young boy learning to understand and cope with his mother's illness. The story creates natural opportunities for families to talk about both the symptoms of chronic illness, and how they affect family life. Even more importantly, the story puts power into the hands of the children. It also offers a helpful "Tips and Resources" section for parents! This book is appropriate for a wide-variety of illnesses associated with chronic pain, such as: Lupus, Lyme Disease, ME, CFS, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Autoimmune Disease, and many others.
