Abstract
Food has the power to temporarily alleviate stress and sadness, enhance joy, and bring us comfort when we need it most. It's no wonder experts estimate that 75 percent of overeating is triggered by our emotions, not physical hunger. The good news is you can instead soothe yourself through dozens of mindful activities that are healthy for both body and mind.
Susan Albers, author of Eating Mindfully, now offers 50 Ways to Soothe Yourself Without Food, a collection of mindfulness skills and practices for relaxing the body in times of stress and ending your dependence on eating as a means of coping with difficult emotions. You'll not only discover easy ways to soothe urges to overeat, you'll also learn how to differentiate emotion-driven hunger from healthy hunger. Reach for this book instead of the refrigerator next time you feel the urge to snack-these alternatives are just as satisfying!

Abstract
The Antidepressant Skills Workbook (ASW) is a self-care manual is based on the experience of the authors and on scientific research about which strategies work best in managing depression. It provides an overview of depression, explains how it can be effectively managed according to the best available research, and gives a step-by-step guide to changing patterns that trigger depression.
In this self-care guide, we show how to use cognitive and behavioural methods to make important changes in thinking and actions that help one to emerge from depression and make it less likely to recur. These methods can be used in combination with depression treatments, increasing their effectiveness.
Note that for most people with serious depression, use of this self-help guide alone will not be sufficient to resolve the depression. People with serious depression should obtain treatment with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or antidepressant medication.
ASW is intended for:
- Individuals with depressed mood
- Concerned partners, family members or friends who want to help a depressed individual
- Clinical providers that would like to use the manual as an adjunct to their treatment
This book is meant to provide accurate information about depression. It is not a psychological or medical treatment, and is not a replacement for treatment where this is needed. If expert assistance or treatment is needed, the services of a competent professional should be sought.
Funding for this book was provided through grants from the Ministry of Health, and BC Mental Health and Addiction Services, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority, province of British Columbia, Canada.
Note: This publication is designed to provide accurate and authoritative information in regard to the subject matter covered. It is provided with the understanding that the publisher is not engaged in rendering psychological or other professional services. If expert assistance or treatment is needed, the services of a competent professional should be sought.

Subject
Tourette Syndrome. Gilles De La Tourette Syndrome
Abstract
Tics are a fact of life for kids with Tourette Syndrome (TS) and related disorders. And for most kids, the symptoms of their disorder aren't even the most frustrating part-others' reactions can make children feel anxious and extremely self-conscious.
Coping with Tourette Syndrome includes forty activities to help kids with TS, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) understand, prepare for, and mask their tics. Kids will also learn how to best explain their tics to friends and curious strangers using humor, games, or brief scripts they have prepared.
The activities in this workbook address managing TS and related disorders in specific situations, such as at school, at the movies, when out to dinner, on special occasions, when visiting friends for sleepovers or parties, when taking tests, and in places of worship. After completing these exercises, kids with TS will have all the tools they need to handle their tics with confidence and grace in any situation.

Abstract
A story which addresses the complex problem of eating disorders in a language that children from ages 5-12 can understand. It is a beautifully illustrated book telling the story of two mice who use food in an effort to cope with the stress in their lives. "Mouse stress" involves an ever-present cat, mouse-traps, a dog and a rat who chase the small mice. The boy mouse, Billy Blue, overeats for comfort and solace. His sister, Sally Rose, under-eats in an attempt to reduce her size in order to be safe. While Billy is teased for being fat, his sister is admired for her tiny body. Their parents, though well intentioned, are distracted by work and compulsive cleaning. Their wise aunt teaches them to listen to their bodies, tune in to their feelings and get their needs met in more effective ways.

Abstract
Perhaps no other person has done more to bring mindfulness meditation into the contemporary landscape of America than Jon Kabat-Zinn. Through a number of research studies, and through Kabat-Zinn's pioneering work at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he is founder of its world-renowned Stress Reduction Clinic, mindfulness is finally being recognized as a highly effective tool for dealing with stress, chronic pain, and other illnesses.
Now with this four-part home training course, Jon Kabat-Zinn offers listeners the definitive mindfulness meditation practice on CD. We are not trying to actively achieve a state of deep relaxation―or any other state for that matter―while practicing mindfulness, he teaches. But interestingly, by opening to an awareness of how things actually are in the present moment, we often taste very deep states of relaxation and well-being of both body and mind.
Course objectives:
- Utilize body and mind meditations in daily practice
- Practice mindful yoga with clear, safe and simple instructions
- Describe the basic state of being which is present awareness
- Compare the results of unmoving, sitting meditation to a movement meditation such as mindful yoga

"Researcher, thought leader, and New York Times bestselling author Brené Brown offers a liberating study on the importance of our imperfections?both to our relationships and to our own sense of self
"The quest for perfection is exhausting and unrelenting. There is a constant barrage of social expectations that teach us that being imperfect is synonymous with being inadequate. Everywhere we turn, there are messages that tell us who, what and how we?re supposed to be. So, we learn to hide our struggles and protect ourselves from shame, judgment, criticism and blame by seeking safety in pretending and perfection"--from the Publisher.
